Export Data

Export is currently available only from the Second Me web app. It creates a backup of the memories and active key memories associated with your Second Me.

Export Your Data

  1. Sign in to the Second Me web app.
  2. Open Account Settings.
  3. In the Export section, select Export all memories.
  4. Review the export details, then select Export.
  5. The ZIP file opens for download automatically. If the download does not start, use the manual download link shown by Second Me.

What the Export Includes

  • Memories: Each memory associated with the current Second Me is exported as a separate Markdown file. Where available, it includes the title, body, timestamps, source and type, status and permission, Smart Topics, linked resources, and AI-generated summary, insight, and keywords.
  • Active key memories: These are collected in a separate Markdown file. Their content, visibility, type, and timestamps are included when available.

Resources and attachments are represented by links and metadata. The original attachment files are not embedded in the export.

File Format

Second Me downloads one ZIP archive with this structure:

notes/
note_<id>.md
key-memories/
memories.md

The key-memories file is included only when there are active key memories. The files use UTF-8 Markdown with YAML front matter. There is no JSON, plain text, or other format to select.

Export Cooldown

A new export can be generated once every 24 hours. This is a rolling 24-hour cooldown from the previous export, not a reset at the start of a calendar day. During the cooldown, you can download the existing export more than once, but the downloads use the same file and link.
